Homestay Ilihan is the newest accommodation to open in Iligan City. It is one of the most recommended places to stay, and accommodation in Iligan. Ilihan is the Higaonon term for Iligan, and the newest accommodation in Iligan City sports its tribal roots with pride. It allows visitors to rent rooms ideal for families, and for visitors planning to have a longer stay. The group of “apartments” is own by Iliganon family and located in one of the quiet and peaceful community in Iligan.
Staycation at Homestay Ilihan
It has 3 buildings to which a room occupies a floor each, and another building where the reception area is always open for its guest. It is an apartment style accommodation with its dining and kitchen area and separated from the sleeping space with the shower and comfort room in between.
What’s unique and an advantage to staying at Homestay Ilihan is that is offers a homelife kind of accommodation. It has a dining area and a kitchen for longstaying guest. The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, water heater, sink, and ample food preparation kitchen counter space for group of friends or family staying there. If you plan to cook your meals though, you can do so at the common kitchen downstairs. But if you prefer to eat out when you’re touring around Iligan City, Homestay Ilihan has free breakfast meal to start your day.
The shower and comfort room is located between the dining/kitchen space and the sleeping area. It is spacious, and clean and well-lit. It has hot/cold shower, and a rain shower head which is always a relaxing to shower with.
The sleeping area has 1 double sized and 1 single bed with ample floor space around. If you’ve been reading my blog, or any of my accommodation reviews you would probably know by now I’m very particular with leg space or area to walk around the bed or the room. And this has generous amount of free space to walk around and not bump to each other.

Homestay Ilihan is budget-friendly considering the kind of rooms they have. Check-in is at 2PM nd check-out at 12NN. You would think that a room good for 2-3 with a its own dining and kitchen area and free breakfast is expensive but the rate for a night stay at 1,300PhP ( ~35USD ) is a steal! I have stayed in a horrendous 3-star hotel in Iligan City which is pricer than Homestay Ilihan, and I would say that Homestay Ilihan is competitive with its services and facilities.
It is located at New Frontier Court which is, to be honest, away from the city proper, but the good thing about it is that the neighborhood is safe, and quiet. For those who do not have vehicles for private transport though, the staff are very accommodating to helping you find a ride and directions to take. And if you plan to go tour around the city, they can also book and set up travel tours for you.
If you came from the airport, read this first.
- Take a jeepney (Tambo Line) that passes by Coffeeworks, or Jerry’s Grill
- At the road corner, take a tricyle (public transportation)
- Ask the driver to bring you to New Frontier Court Subdivision at Homestay Ilihan if he is not familar.
- It is best that you say New Frontier Court first so he will know the directio to take you, and then say the name of the accommodation or what locals call it “Macapagal’s apartments”
- It will take you about 4-5min to get there, and 2 mins for private vehicles with the map below.
